J. Walter Vaughan, surgeon, was born 6 August 1880 in Mt. Airy, Missouri, the son of Dr. Victor C. Vaughan and Dora Catherine Taylor Vaughan.
He graduated form Ann Arbor High schhol and received his A.B. from the University of Michigan in 1902 and his M.D. from the UM in 1904.
Dr. Vaughan practiced medicine in Detroit beginning in 1905; junior attending surgeon, Harper Hospital.
First lieutenant medical Reserve Corps, U. S. A.
Democrat. Episcopalian. Member Wayne County Medical Society, Michigan State Medical Society, American Medical Association, Detroit Academy of Medicine and Beta Theta Pi, Nu Sigma Nu college societies.
Clubs: Detroit Boat, Wayne County Medical, Wolverine Automobile.
Author of several scientific books; also contributor of many articles to scientific journals.

Married Gertrude Leffingwell of Quincy, Illinois 12 December 1906. They had a son, J. Walter Vaughan, Jr.
Died at at 68.
