Funeral Services
Set for Tuesday

Funeral services for Mrs. Nellie Cushman (Hewitt) Knight, 96, of New Bedford will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Wilson Funeral Home, New Bedford. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery that afternoon.

Mrs. Knight, a former resident of Worcester for more than 81 years, died yesterday in the home of her daughter, Pauline, widow of Charles A. Trafford, 61 Seventh St., New Bedford.

Her late husband, Arthur 0 Knight, was a founder of the Worcester Country Club.

She was born in Rockland, Maine, a daughter of the late George and Delphina (Adams) Hewitt. She moved to New Bedford about 10 years ago.

A son, Arthur D. "Bud" Knight, once the club champion at Worcester Country Club, died a year ago in East Bridgewater. Another son, Milton C. Knight, also a prominent golfer in this area, died on Jan. 8 in Greenwich, Conn.

Besides her daughter, she leaves a son, Russell C. Knight; a sister, Mrs. O. A. Kelley Sr.; a nephew, O. Allen Kelley Jr., all of Worcester; seven grand-children, and 17 great-grandchildren.

Death Takes Widow of Noted Area Golfer

Mrs. Nellie Cushman Hewitt Knight, 96, a resident of Worcester for more than 81 years died yesterday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Pauline Trafford, in New Bedford

She was the daughter of Arthur 0 Knight, one of the founders of Worcester Country Club.

A son, Milton C. Knight. also a one-time prominent golfer in the Worcester area, died Jan. 8 in Greenwich, Conn.

Mrs. Knight was born in Rockland, Maine, Sept. 29, 1863.

Besides her daughter, she leaves a son, Russell C. Knight of Worcester; a sister, Mrs. O. A. Kelley Sr. of Worcester, a nephew, O. Allen Kelley Jr. of Worcester, and seven grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Wilson Funeral Home, New Bedford. Burial will be in the Hope Cemetery here.
